In brief: Ride will benefit pancreatic cancer

CENTENNIAL TRAIL – The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network “Purple Ride Spok-d’Alene” 2010 will be Aug. 28 on the Centennial Trail to raise money for pancreatic cancer research.

The 35-mile bike ride will begin in Mission Park in Spokane and end in Riverstone Park in Coeur d’Alene. Participants may also choose to bike in a 15-mile or 4-mile family ride.

The ride will include a community picnic and prizes. The Kelly Hughes Band will also perform.

Cost is $20 per person and includes a T-shirt and a picnic ticket. Tickets to the picnic are $10 per person for those not participating in the bike ride.

Diabetes center has new location

LOGAN – The CHER Diabetes Education Center has moved to the Riverpoint One Building, 501 N. Riverpoint Blvd., Suite 245.

The center has been serving the Spokane area for 22 years, providing classes and one-on-one consultations in diabetes education for Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes and gestational diabetes. Indian cooking class tonight

POST FALLS – The Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center, 405 N. William St. will feature Chef Amy Kaur, a native of Punjab in India today, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., as part of the “What’s Cookin’ at the JACC” cooking class series.

Kaur will teach participants how to make roti, dhall, and Punjabi chicken.

Cost is $50 per person.
