Glacier Park’s Logan Pass open
Going to the Sun Road fully open for vehicles
WEST GLACIER, Mont. — Glacier National Park officials opened the historic Going-to-the-Sun Road across Logan Pass late on Thursday after crews worked for weeks to plow and till through the lingering winter snow.
Visitors are being told to be careful around the 10-foot-tall vertical snow banks piled near the road. Also, many trails are still covered in snow.
The park’s free shuttle service is scheduled to begin serving locations along the Sun Road and Apgar Village on July 1 and will continue through Labor Day.
The scenic, alpine road was finished in 1933 and connects West Glacier and St. Mary.
