Indians can’t get over hump

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Spokane pitchers allowed just 13 runs during the Indians’ five-game series against the Vancouver Canadians, which ended Friday.

Spokane outscored the Canadians and had 16 more hits than Vancouver during the Northwest League series.

That’s where the good news leaves off, as Spokane dropped four of five games at Nat Bailey Stadium, including Friday’s 3-2 setback when Vancouver scored in the seventh inning on Wade Kirkland’s two-out RBI double.

Spokane (1-6), which lost four one-run games during the series, returns home tonight against Everett (7-1).

Spokane tied the game at 2 in its seventh when Kevin Rodland tripled and scored on Guillermo Pimentel’s single. The next two Indians walked, but relievers Jacob Brown (1-0), Dan McDaniel and Mike Hart retired the final seven Indians of the game, five on strikeouts.

Daniel Lima, an Indians returner from 2009, had two hits to give him five in his last two games.
