PORT ANGELES, Wash. – A search for a 21-year-old father and his 1-year-old daughter was launched Saturday after their car was found abandoned on a remote logging road on the Olympic Peninsula, the Clallam County Undersheriff said.

Jared T. Egnew and Madison E. Egnew were reported missing Friday night by family after Egnew did not come back from a drive to calm down the baby girl.

The family had been living at a campground.

Clallam County Undersheriff Ron Peregrin said there were no signs of a dispute in the family. Egnew took the baby around 11 a.m. Friday.

Egnew’s wife, Kayla A. McComb, began calling friends and family in the afternoon when her husband didn’t come back. The family then contacted authorities.
