Car wash employee robbed at knifepoint

A car wash employee making a cash deposit at 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday was robbed at knifepoint, with a 4- to 6-inch blade held to the victim’s throat. Spokane Valley police reported that the robbery occurred at a U.S. Bank branch at 9208 E. Sprague Ave. while the employee was attempting to deposit cash from two bags that had come from Mr. Car Wash. When confronted by the robber, the male employee told officers he dropped the bags to the ground, raised his hands in the air and backed way. The robber grabbed one of the bags and ran to the southeast. Officers later contacted the car wash’s business manager to talk about the business deposit procedures, according to Sgt. Dave Reagan, police spokesman. The male robber was white, about 5-foot-8 and slender. He had sunken cheeks and shoulder-length brown hair. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with horizontal stripes and dark pants. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
