Mead girls reach semifinals
Redmon scores 32 points in victory
TACOMA — Jazmine Redmon connected on 4 of 6 free throws down the stretch part of a 32-point effort, and Mead survived a final 3-point attempt from Sanda Milovic for a 74-71 win over Kentwood in the quarterfinals of the Class 4A girls state tournament on Thursday night.

Mead trailed by 11 early in the fourth quarter, but Taylor Ingebritsen scored with 1:12 left to play to tie the game at 69-all. Free throws from Redmon gave Mead a 72-69 lead with 30 seconds to play. Courtney Johnson pulled the Conquerors back within one and Kentwood sent Redmon to the line again. Redmon missed her second free throw, but grabbed the offensive rebound and Ingebritsen was fouled and sent to the line. She made one of two free throws to extend the lead to three. Milovic lofted a 3-pointer from the right wing that rimmed off to preserve the win for Mead.
Redmon added 12 rebounds, while Ingebritsen added 14 points for Mead.
Kylie Huerta led the way for Kentwood with 26 points. Liz Mills finished with 25 and Kylee Ashley had 14 for the Conquerors.
