NC presents musical ‘Big River’

Students at North Central High School share the story of two rambunctious young boys in the musical “Big River, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” beginning tonight at 7:30 at the high school.

The cast, crew and orchestra totals approximately 60 NC students. Students on the main stage, floating down the Mississippi River, include: Dalin Tipton as Huck and Anthony McCain as Jim, with Lindsey Gay as Miss Watson, Brittany Cozza as the Widow Douglas, Colton Sullivan as Pap and the King, Corey Evans as the Duke, and Tim Hensz as Tom Sawyer.

Performances will continue Friday and Saturday, and next Thursday through March 13. All shows are at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 7.

Tickets are $7 per person; $6 for NC students and senior citizens.

LC launches space comedy

The Lewis and Clark High School drama department will perform “Revenge of the Space Pandas,” tonight through Saturday at 7 p.m. in the LCHS Auditorium.

The family-friendly production is about a boy genius, his pet sheep, and the girl next door, who fly across the galaxy on a crazy adventure, where wackiness ensues. A flier from LC describes it as “fun for the whole family… if you like the irreverent humor of Shrek or the absurdity of Monty Python, you’ll love this story.”

The “Space Pandas” cast includes: Dylan Lockwood, Nick McConnell, Katie Gross-Pattison, Jose Johnson, Kiley Cole, Kaitlyn Dimak, Jesse Elquist, Keyonna Knight, Cameron Brow, Mike SanMiguel, Liz McDonnell, Max Chumov, and Brianna Broadwater .

Math winners announced

Local middle school students recently competed at the MathCounts regional competition held on Saturday.

St. George’s finished first, Northwood second and Sacajawea third.

Individual awards included: Ben Reich of Northwood, first; Kashif Ravasia of St. George’s, second; Erin Kaya of St. George’s, third; and Michael Thew of St. George’s School, fourth.

The Spokane Chapter of the Washington Society of Professional Engineers hosted the event with sponsorship from NAC|Architecture and Spring Environmental, Inc.
