Build an aquarium

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane does not need more condos or other developments targeting the upper class. We already lost valuable land on the north bank to condo developers. The old YMCA building site needs to stay within the public trust and be used with the public’s best interest in mind.

Something like an aquarium would be a great benefit. It would bring in revenue, tourists, education for children – an activity families can share, as well as a learning tool for local college students studying science and ecology.

It would make Spokane (and Eastern Washington) more appealing to businesses and families looking to relocate. I’m pretty sure local business, taxpayers and the public at large would get behind it. It is time to do something positive for Spokane for a change. We don’t want or need another parking garage fiasco or similar blight.

Give Spokane something everyone can get behind, instead of just more development for the rich. You want something to bring people downtown? Then let’s build a Spokane aquarium!
