Colville man dies after Kettle Falls crash

A 25-year-old Colville man died Sunday evening from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of state Highway 25 and Old Kettle Road just south of Kettle Falls. Dustin D. Eldred was taken to Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville where he died following the 4 p.m. accident. Eldred was a passenger in a 1982 Toyota Corolla driven by Kayla R. Lickfold, 20, of Kettle Falls, who was treated for injuries and released from the Colville hospital. Lickfold and Eldred were not wearing seat belts, the Washington State Patrol said. Troopers said Lickfold was headed east on Old Kettle Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at Highway 25 and was struck in the intersection by a 1994 Chevrolet pickup. The pickup driver was identified as Wyatt A. Cowley, 51, of Kettle Falls. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, according to the state patrol. The accident is under investigation for potential charges, troopers said.
