Heather Beedle of Curlew, Wash., is the runner-up in the first French’s National Cook-off.

Beedle was one of five finalists flown to New York City for the contest. She made her Irresistible BBQ Turkey (To Sigh For) for a second-place finish.

The winning recipe, from Suellen Calhoun of Des Moines, Iowa, was for Onion Polenta with Spicy Tomato Avocado Salad.

For her efforts, Beedle won the two-night expense-paid trip, Cuisinart appliances, French’s products and a finalist’s plaque.

The contest recipes can be found on French’s Web site, www.frenchsfoods.com.
