Minority births may top whites in U.S.

WASHINGTON – Minorities make up nearly half the children born in the U.S., part of a historic trend in which minorities are expected to become the U.S. majority over the next 40 years.

In fact, demographers say this year could be the “tipping point” when the number of babies born to minorities outnumbers that of babies born to whites.

The numbers are growing because immigration to the U.S. has boosted the number of Hispanic women in their prime childbearing years. Minorities made up 48 percent of U.S. children born in 2008, the latest census estimates available, compared with 37 percent in 1990.

“Census projections suggest America may become a minority-majority country by the middle of the century. For America’s children, the future is now,” said Kenneth Johnson, a sociology professor at the University of New Hampshire who researched many of the racial trends in a paper being released today.

Johnson explained there are now more Hispanic women of prime childbearing age who tend to have more children than women of other races. More white women are waiting until they are older to have children, but it is not yet known whether that will have a noticeable effect on the current trend of increasing minority newborns.

The numbers highlight the nation’s growing racial and age divide, seen in pockets of communities across the U.S., which could heighten tensions in current policy debates from immigration reform and education to health care and Social Security.

There are also strong implications for the 2010 population count, which begins in earnest next week, when more than 120 million U.S. households receive their census forms in the mail. The Census Bureau is running public service announcements this week to improve its tally of young children, particularly minorities, who are most often missed in the once-a-decade head count. The campaign features Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer, the English- and Spanish-speaking Nickelodeon cartoon character who helps “mommy fill out our census form.”

Whites currently make up two-thirds of the total U.S. population, and recent census estimates suggest the number of minorities may not overtake the number of whites until 2050.

Right now, roughly 1 in 10 of the nation’s 3,142 counties already have minority populations greater than 50 percent. But 1 in 4 communities have more minority children than white children or are nearing that point, according to the study, which Johnson co-published.

That is because Hispanic women on average have three children, while other women on average have two. The numbers are 2.99 children for Hispanics, 1.87 for whites, 2.13 for blacks and 2.04 for Asians in the U.S. And the number of white women of prime childbearing age is on the decline, dropping 19 percent from 1990.

What this article fails to tell you is that 400,000 of these births every year are by illegal alien women at the taxpayers’ expense because our government refuses to enforce our immigration laws, and because of the misinterpretation of our birthright laws. We are just about the only country left that allows this because the progressives are trying to further their agenda for a North American Union between the Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. These globalists in our government who want open borders are not even trying to hide this anymore. Welcome to the new third world country!

In fact every nation that is majority white is seen as racist, while the nations where there are hardly any whites are not.

Thank you Ted Kennedy! In the 1960’s, thanks to Teddy, our immigration laws changed from quota based on the needs of our country, to chain migration and arbitrary quotas established for immigration from each country. It was weighted heavily toward the third world.
When everyone is out screaming about the socialist bill of the day, be it cap and trade or a government takeover of healthcare, no one is watching what is going on underneath our very eyes.
Our country is being silently invaded by the third world thru the anchor baby movement and, yes, this is a goal of the open borders and radical ethnocentric groups in this country.
We will have a population with no allegiance to America and a desire to remain segregated as a political force taking control of our institutions.
Notice all of the bilingual signs increasing in business and on goods and services every day?

Actually it wouldn’t take much to interrupt it correctly “Under the Jurisdiction of”, It is pretty easy to understand, if you are an illegal alien you are under the Jurisdiction of your home country and there for any child born to you should be considered the same…..but then again that makes us racist, regardless of the country the illegal is from….BUT as I said Americans don’t have the guts or fortitude to take a stand on anything for the good of their country! Firstly, your first three “paragraphs” should be but one paragraph. Tthe ellipsis in your first sentence does what? A period after the non-capitalized “post” is sufficient while of course the next sentence should start with a capital “This”.
Hitting “enter” after “Quote: “” is unnecessary, and a period and not a colon is needed after “Unquote”.
Is “eh” between your “but” and “if” in your third sentence some sort of exclamation? If so a comma appropriately brings that to light.
The word “seperate” in your fourth paragraph is spelled “”separate”; “Mexican’s” is “Mexicans” (the apostrophe is unjustified in the non-possessive “Mexicans” objective case); and a space is needed between “immigration” and the ellipsis. Also, a semi-colon is needed between “me” and “I” in the sentence, “Try checking out ” You don’t speak for me” I suppose they are racist too”.
Cesspool is one word, and that would be “your” betwen “help” and fellow”.
I will happily offer you my services in effectively communicating in written English free of charge brother!

If you’re an American, your first allegiance is to this great country of ours, not to a third world country that imports their poor for American taxpayers to take care of. Illegal aliens are not the responsibility of the American people! Our financial and cultural health is at stake here by the uncontrolled flow of illegal aliens coming across the border, and when people bring up racist comments, that immediately tells me they don’t have a legitimate arguement to defend the people who come here in violation of federal law. maybe some of us in here are in hurry, we don’t have a lot of time to spend writing and checking every little detail in a comment section of a small newspaper. I spend a lot of time trying to get legislation passed so we can get our current laws enforced, e-verify mandatory, stopping in-state tuition in every state possible, stopping the Dream Act, not to mention trying to stop any amnesty bill at the federal level, so we can get rid of law breakers…What do you do besides go around and threaten people? Lets see you evidently didn’t stay and fight for a better life for you fellow countrymen in your home country.

If you did not understand my first post tinybobidaho, my first paragraph condemns the white American citizens who hire “3rd world illegal exports”. One would think with the massive expansion of government in the last decade, for “security’s” sake nonetheless, that innumerable thousands would not be pouring into America across our southern border!
As far as your allegation of grammatical errors, well, “show me the money”!
Wells Scotts if you are doing what you claim to be doing proper grammar should be second nature. As far as you thinking I am not a white American citizen, well, you can believe what you want to believe, but truly, I am whiter than Captain America. Lastly, years ago I lived in Arizona and worked for a construction firm that hired all sorts of illegal workers, and I partied with these dudes, and, yes, many of them do not like us white people (but some of the senoritas dig us crazy white dudes!).

The conversation in this forum is reminiscent of the eugenics movement from over a century ago and the theory of eugenics has been empirically falsified repeatedly since then.
I am a person who simultaneously embraces reason and faith and this informs my posting.
Population trends function independent from policies and therefore no political actions will have much likelihood of changing this population trend. The thing that we have to realize it that we have no alternative to learning to live together as human beings.
My faith tells me that everyone on earth is a child of God and that we are all therefore brothers and sisters. I can only hope that the vitriol being displayed in this forum is a function of a small self-selected sample. One cannot be a Christian and assert that anyone is more or less of a human being, a child of God, on the basis of their skin color.
We know that the racial reality in America is changing and looking inside of our own hearts is the first step toward meeting our individual responsibility to improve our world.

the problem is they are crossing our borders illegally, popping out a baby and becoming legal citizens. then they get a job…or open a place of buissness…bring up all their illegal family and hire them illegally to work at said buissiness (or not work at all and 10 of them live in a house while the legals work). That is until they pop out some of their own kids and become legal too. By they way, we are the ones paying for these kids to be born. and the hospitals foot the bill for it too. Notice a lot of hospitals near the border are having to close down due to this problem. Politicians like the vote they get from these illegas (but now are legal cuz they popped out kid). Remember New York city made it to where illegals could get a drivers liscence? the politicians said it was because they were driving anyway and this way they could get car insurance to help fix the problem with having so many unninsured drivers. guess what, they still didnt get insurance. now they have a legal form of I.D. They bring crime with them. (anyone remember recent shooting in CDA) Sexual crimes are the most common, And guess what, when they are caught they get deported and just come back a couple months/years later! They dont have to answer to anyone. And you think we should just keep our borders open? that will lead to the destruction of our country. im not racist. facts our facts and they are color blind. if you want to be a citizen of this country do it the legal way and bring something positive. otherwise stay in your third world nations so you dont bring us down. this nation is for our LEGAL citizens.
