In brief: Benefits for Haiti, church youths

DISHMAN – Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will host two benefit events in the coming week. Today the church will host a rummage sale to benefit Haiti relief efforts, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the church, 115 N. Raymond Road. Next Saturday the church will host its 19th annual dinner and auction to send church youths to summer camp.

The dinner and auction will begin with an all-you-can-eat taco bar at 5 p.m. at the church. A live auction will follow at 6 p.m. Items up for bid include gift baskets, quilts, party packages and gift cards. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-12. Children 3 and younger are free. Child care will be available. Call the church at (509) 924-7262 for more information.

WVSD student poster artist sought

WEST VALLEY – The second annual competition to design the official Millwood Farmers’ Market poster is now open for submissions. The contest is open to all students in the West Valley School District. The deadline is April 16.

The poster should celebrate the unique character of Millwood and the fresh fruits and vegetables sold at the market. The poster design must include the words “Millwood Farmers’ Market,” “Wednesdays 3-7 p.m.” and “May 19-September 29.”

All entries must be on an 8.5- by 11-inch piece of paper and be oriented vertically. Computer-generated graphics or clip art are not allowed. Summer baseball sign-up under way

SPOKANE VALLEY – Spokane Valley Baseball League is accepting registration for summer baseball.
