In brief: Time change may cause late newspaper delivery

From Staff And Wire Reports

Due to the time change, The Spokesman-Review’s home delivery carriers could be up to an hour late in some areas this morning. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Jerome County OKs manure as power source

JEROME, Idaho – Commissioners in Jerome County have voted to amend the zoning ordinance to allow power generation from cow manure.

Commissioners on Monday approved the change to allow the nonconventional energy production without a special use permit.

Specifically, the change means a permit isn’t needed to build anaerobic digesters that use livestock waste to produce electricity.

Commissioners cited a major reduction in the volume of manure for dairies that install digesters.
