Wary of Olympia’s promises

The Spokesman-Review

This latest offer from the state Senate to install an income tax on the people of the state of Washington is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown and Sen. Rosa Franklin have almost convinced me that this proposal would be a wonderful thing, then I remembered how these folks and others in Olympia love to spend all the money we can send them. They say the sales tax will be lowered and the income tax will only apply to the rich. How long can we trust that this will not provide the state just one more opportunity to raise the sales tax back up, and find ways to apply the income tax to those of us who are not making $200,000 to $400,000 per year?

Remember, these are the same legislators who found a way around we the people’s every effort to make it more difficult to raise our taxes. These are the representatives that have spent us into a $2.8 billion deficit. Who are these folks representing?

Certainly not the voters, who have tried and tried to curtail taxes and spending.
