Not resting on their laurels

Those Academy Award nominees and winners are moving on. Here’s where they’re headed:

• Jeff Bridges, won best actor for “Crazy Heart” – In the 3-D sci-fi sequel “Tron Legacy” (Dec. 17), he has been trapped in a cyber universe for 25 years. Can his grown son (Garrett Hedlund) help him escape? Also, he’s traveling to New Mexico this month to become Marshal Rooster Cogburn as the Coen brothers start shooting their remake of “True Grit” (Dec. 25).

• Matt Damon, supporting actor nominee for “Invictus” – After “Green Zone,” he’ll co-star with Emily Blunt in the sci-fi romantic thriller “The Adjustment Bureau” (July 30). He’s a Texas ranger, co-starring with Jeff Bridges, in the “True Grit” remake (Dec. 25). He’ll star in Clint Eastwood’s “Hereafter” (December), a thriller about three people coping with death. And he and Brad Pitt will lend their voices to the animated “Happy Feet 2” (November 2011).

• Carey Mulligan, best actress nominee for “An Education” – In the sequel “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” (Sept. 24), she’s the daughter of greedy stockbroker Michael Douglas (newly freed from jail) and the love interest of greedy apprentice (and real-life boyfriend) Shia LaBeouf. And later this year she co-stars with Keira Knightley in the drama “Never Let Me Go,” about a love triangle in rural Britain.

• Christoph Waltz, won supporting actor for “Inglourious Basterds” – He’s the villain Chudnofsky in “The Green Hornet” (Dec. 22). And he’s pretty much a Nazi in a traveling circus in “Water for Elephants,” a cruel husband to Reese Witherspoon — who’s falling for young veterinarian Robert Pattinson.

• Anna Kendrick, supporting actress nominee for “Up in the Air,” – She’s back as neurotic Jessica in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” (June 30). She’ll also co-star with Michael Cera in the comic-book adaptation “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” (Aug. 13). And later she’ll play a psychologist in a comedy tentatively titled “I’m With Cancer,” in which Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a cancer patient. Seth Rogen produces and co-stars.

• Gabourey Sidibe, best actress nominee for “Precious” – She’ll join another poor New York family in “Yelling to the Sky.” And in the Showtime dramedy series “The Big C,” she’ll play a student whose teacher (Laura Linney) has cancer.

• Penelope Cruz, supporting actress nominee for “Nine” – She has a cameo in “Sex and the City 2” (May 27), playing a glamorous banker who has a thing for Mr. Big. And she’s in talks to co-star with Johnny Depp in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” (May 2011).

• Morgan Freeman, best actor nominee for “Invictus” – He’ll co-star with Bruce Willis in the thriller “Red” (Oct. 22). It’s a comic-book adaptation about a retired special-ops agent who must take down an assassin.

• George Clooney, best actor nominee for “Up in the Air” – In “The American” (Sept. 1), he’s a hit man on one last assignment in Italy.

• Colin Firth, best actor nominee for “A Single Man” – In “The King’s Speech,” due later this year, he’s the stammering King George VI, who reluctantly assumes the throne after brother Edward (Guy Pearce) abdicates. It’s up to a speech therapist (Geoffrey Rush) to help him overcome his impediment.

• Jeremy Renner, best actor nominee for “The Hurt Locker” – He joins Ben Affleck and Jon Hamm in the crime drama “The Town” (Sept. 10). Affleck, who co-wrote and directs, stars as a thief who hooks up with the bank manager (Blake Lively) he tried to rob.

• Vera Farmiga, supporting actress nominee for “Up in the Air” – She’s shooting the romantic comedy “Henry’s Crime” with Keanu Reeves, about a man sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit. And she’ll co-star with Jake Gyllenhaal in “Source Code,” a sci-fi thriller from Duncan Jones (”Moon”) about a soldier who wakes up in another body.

• Maggie Gyllenhaal, supporting actress nominee for “Crazy Heart” – She plays a harried young mom trying to run the family farm alone. She sure could use the help of nanny Emma Thompson in “Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang” (Aug. 20).

• Helen Mirren, best actress nominee for “The Last Station” – She’s an amateur investigating a murder in “Brighton Rock.” In Julie Taymor’s version of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest,” she’s magician Prospera. She’ll star for director husband Taylor Hackford in the drama “Love Ranch.” And she’ll co-star with Morgan Freeman in “Red” (Oct. 22).
