CV rally trips Lewis and Clark

Goals from Devin Allen and Trevor DelMedico helped rally Central Valley from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Lewis and Clark 2-1 in Greater Spokane League boys soccer at Hart Field on Wednesday.

Following a Christian Foster goal for the Tigers (3-2, 1-2 Greater Spokane League) in the 27th minute, Allen and DelMedico teamed up to level the score two minutes before halftime.

DelMedico scored the decisive goal on a cross with a minute to play for the Bears (3-1, 1-1).

Also in the GSL, first half goals from Gabe Arias and Jay Jansen helped visiting Mead (5-0, 3-0) run their unbeaten streak to five games to open the season with a 2-0 victory over East Valley (2-3, 1-2). Jordan Etten assisted on both goals for the Panthers, who outshot the Knights 15-3. … Zach Allert opened the scoring in the first minute, and University (2-1, 2-1) never looked back in a convincing 4-0 win over host North Central (2-2, 0-2). C.B. Aunan added a goal on each side of halftime, and Allert scored his second of the contest in the 58th minute for the Titans. … Gonzaga Prep used four second half goals, three from Shane Schmidlkofer, to extend their winning streak to five games with a 5-0 drubbing of visiting Rogers (1-2, 0-1). After taking a 1-0 first half lead, the Bullpups (5-0-1, 5-0) were held in check until Schmidlkofer opened the flood gates in the 44th minute. Justin Gates added GP’s fifth of the match two minutes from the final whistle. … Alec Cutter scored two goals and host Ferris (2-2, 2-1) held off a second half comeback attempt from Mt. Spokane (0-6, 0-3) in a 6-1 triumph. Cutter opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a penalty kick, and another Saxon goal from Isaac Peter put Ferris fully in control. But a quick strike from the Wildcats in the 45th minute and a narrow miss in the 49th nearly tied the contest. Cutter scored the first of four second-half Saxon goals in the 56th to put the match away.
