School presents ‘Passion’

The drama class at St. Michael’s Academy will perform “The Passion of the Christ,” today and Friday at 7 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium, 8500 N. St. Michael’s Road.

Churches offer Holy Week services

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., will celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos today with a 9 a.m. Orthros and a 10 a.m. Divine liturgy.

The services will be followed by a slideshow presentation on the history and symbolism of Orthodox icons of the Theotokos.

The church will also observe Lazarus Saturday with a 9:30 a.m. Divine liturgy and Palm Sunday services will include Orthros at 9 a.m. and Divine liturgy at 10 a.m.

Holy Trinity will then offer the Bridegroom Service on Palm Sunday, Holy Monday and Holy Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The church will offer Holy Unction on Holy Wednesday at 7 p.m. The service will anoint the Orthodox faithful with sacramental oil for the healing of their souls and bodies.

Fowler United Methodist Church, 3928 N. Howard St., will offer a Palm Sunday service featuring a Procession of the Palms and choral music from the “Rise Again” cantata by Russell Malden at 10:30 a.m.

Shiloh Hills Fellowship, 207 E. Lincoln Road, will offer a gathering service Sunday at 10 a.m.

The service will celebrate Palm Sunday and will include a bake sale, baptism, new member introductions and Communion.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3307 W. Rowan Ave., will present its Palm Sunday service at 10:30 a.m.

The church will also offer free coffee and cookies at the Sprague rest stop on Interstate 90 Monday.

Workshop offers Buddhist wisdom

The Spokane Buddhist Temple, 925 S. Perry St., will present the Rev. Mark Unno during a workshop Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Unno will discuss, “The Crooked Path of Life: Buddhist Wisdom for Difficult Times.”

The cost to attend is $20.

The temple will offer an Introduction to Buddhism course Sunday at 9 a.m., which will be followed by a service featuring Unno.

Service to celebrate One Earth, One Hour

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., will present a candlelight service Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in honor of One Earth, One Hour.

The church will turn off the lights from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. as part of Earth Hour, being celebrated around the planet.

Attendees should bring a flashlight.

Movie night

Knox Presbyterian Church, 806 W. Knox, Ave., will present the movie, “The Princess and the Frog,” Friday at 6:30 p.m.
