Cost reform next
The bill is passed; the die is cast. But we still need major reform. Why should it cost $15,000 for my daughter-in-law’s recent appendectomy? She was in the hospital one night, and the operation was performed laparoscopically (i.e., she was not opened up).
Fifteen thousand dollars!? That surely seems a huge sum for a relatively minor hospital stay and procedure. Now there is where the reform should be.
