Borel on Derby winner again

Super Save masters the mud

Associated Press
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jockey Calvin Borel steered Super Saver through the mud to win his third Kentucky Derby in four years. The win ended trainer Todd Pletcher’s Derby drought. Pletcher came into the race 0 for 24, but Borel put him in the winner’s circle at Churchill Downs with a perfect ride along the rail and through the slop. Super Saver covered the 1 1/4-miles in 2:04.45 as the second-choice behind favorite Lookin At Lucky. Ice Box nipped Paddy O’Prado at the wire for second. Borel won a shocker last spring aboard 50-1 long shot Mine That Bird.
