Shooting accident victim identified
A man whose identity was withheld by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office after he died from an accidental gunshot on Friday while hunting a porcupine has been identified as Gary L. Kadow, 67.
The Medical Examiner’s Office released Kadow’s name on Monday.
Kadow went outside his home at 6219 S. Chapman Road to kill a porcupine that had fought with one of the couple’s four dogs.
His wife called 911 about 1 p.m. and said her husband “had accidentally shot himself with a shotgun and was in a field nearby,” according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
His wife told investigators he had medical issues, but investigators don’t know if they contributed to the accident, Reagan said.
