Comedy Central plans series ‘JC’

From Wire Reports

Having already caused a fuss this spring with a depiction of the Prophet Muhammad on “South Park,” Comedy Central said Thursday it has a cartoon series about Jesus Christ in the works.

“JC,” one of 23 potential series the network said it has in development, depicts Christ as a “regular guy” who moves to New York to “escape his father’s enormous shadow.”

It wouldn’t be the first time Christ has been on a Comedy Central cartoon; he’s a recurring character on “South Park.”

TV for dummies

Puppets will take a walk on the wild side as part of a new late-night game show.

“Late Night Liars,” debuting next month on GSN, features a panel of what the channel calls saucy and uncensored “celebrity puppets.”

The puppets are designed by Henson Alternative, a label of the Jim Henson Co. that focuses on projects aimed at adults.

‘Lost’ for all time

“Lost” has found an extra half-hour to expand its big series conclusion.

ABC says the May 23 finale originally scheduled for two hours is now set to air from 9 to 11:30 p.m. It will be preceded by a retrospective special, “Lost: The Final Journey,” from 7 to 9 p.m.

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel will bid the series farewell on a special edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to ‘Lost.’ ”

Undercover no longer

NBC has jumped the gun to unveil “Undercovers” as its first new scripted series for the fall TV season.

The drama from prolific producer J.J. Abrams (“Lost,” “Fringe,” “Alias”) focuses on two of the CIA’s best spies, who fell in love five years ago and retired to open a catering firm. But when a fellow spy and friend goes missing, they set off on an undercover mission to rescue him.
