The nicer side of spring reappears today with mostly sunny skies and highs near 60.

National Weather Service forecasters said they expect the improving weather to continue over the weekend. However, they said there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Highs over the weekend should reach the lower 60s with lows each night in the middle to upper 30s.

Sunday should bring the best weekend weather with highs near 62 and mostly sunny skies.

Higher air pressure in the lower portions of the atmosphere is helping improve the weather, but the air aloft remains under the influence of a broad low pressure area that has been over the region for the past week or more.

As a result, chances of showers will remain in the forecast through Monday.

At 7 a.m., it was 37 at Spokane International Airport and Deer Park and 36 in Coeur d’Alene, downtown Spokane and Pullman.
