In brief: Meeting to focus on Greenacres park

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation Department and the Greenacres Neighborhood Association are asking Greenacres residents to come to a public meeting Wednesday to review a draft master plan for the new Greenacres Park. The plan is based on community input received at previous public meetings. The meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenacres Christian Church, 18010 E. Mission Ave.

The planning consultant will be on hand to answer questions. Children are welcome at the event and refreshments will be provided.

Event highlights kids’ mental health

SPOKANE VALLEY – Spokane-Children’s Mental Health Day will be held at Mission Park today, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free event will begin with a two-mile awareness walk at 10 a.m. and will continue with a resource fair, free pizza, a carnival and live music.

Children’s Mental Health Day provides families with children who have a diagnosed mental illness the opportunity to connect with one another and share stories and resources. Youth ’N Action, Passages Family Support and NAMI are sponsoring the day.
