Snake River bridge jumper pleads guilty

Associated Press

LEWISTON – A man who leaped from a bridge into the Snake River last month trying to elude authorities has pleaded guilty to several charges.

Trevor Balbach, 21, of Lewiston, pleaded guilty last week in 2nd District Court to charges of eluding police and drug possession, as well as driving under the influence.

On April 3, Balbach led officers on a chase through downtown Lewiston before he jumped from the Blue Bridge, which connects Lewiston to Clarkston, into the icy waters of the Snake River.

Balbach remains in Nez Perce County Jail awaiting sentencing on June 24.
