Kirkpatrick not among Seattle job finalists

Associated Press

SEATTLE – Spokane police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick is not among the three finalists for the Seattle police chief job.

The three finalists are the city’s Interim Chief John Diaz, Sacramento police Chief Rick Braziel and East Palo Alto, Calif., police Chief Ron Davis.

A search committee submitted those three names Tuesday to Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, who will choose from among them, likely by mid-June. The City Council will vote on his selection.

The finalists were picked from a group of nine semifinalists, one of whom was Kirkpatrick.

The Seattle chief position came open when former Chief Gil Kerlikowske left the post in 2009 to serve as President Barack Obama’s drug czar.
