In brief: ‘Boxcar Children’ starts May 22

WEST HILLS – Spokane Children’s Theatre will perform “The Boxcar Children” in the Spartan Playhouse at Spokane Falls Community College, 3410 W. Fort George Wright Drive, beginning May 22 at 1 p.m.

Other show dates and times include May 23 at 1 and 4 p.m.; May 29 at 1 and 4 p.m.; June 5 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with signing provided for the hearing impaired; and June 6 at 1 and 4 p.m.

Garland Theater offers free ‘Milk’

NORTH HILL – OutSpokane and the Garland Theater, 924 W. Garland Ave., have announced that “Milk,” the 2009 Oscar-winning biography of Harvey Milk will show at the theater next Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

The free showing is in honor of Milk’s birthday.

Residents can get free dump passes

NORTHWEST - The Northwest Neighborhood Association will give away 100 free dump passes to Northwest residents at the neighborhood association meeting next Thursday at Browne Elementary School, 5102 N. Driscoll Blvd., at 7 p.m.

The passes will be issued on a first come, first serve basis can be used for approximately two weeks after the residents receive them. A driver’s license or utility bill is required to verify residence in the Northwest Neighborhood. The neighborhood covers the area west of Ash Street to the Spokane River, bounded by Belt Street and Indiana Avenue on the south and Francis Avenue on the north to Fairview Avenue, including Westgate and Northwest Terrace.

Any remaining dump passes will be distributed at the general meeting on May 22 at C.O.P.S. Northwest, 2215 W. Wellesley Ave., at 9 a.m.
