EMS levy clarified

The Spokesman-Review

As one of those who voted in favor of the EMS levy, I want to respond to Mike Gross’s letter (May 4). He asks, “When are you going to learn?” Mike Gross is very misinformed; his opinion shows his lack of knowledge regarding the EMS levy. The EMS levy does not go to the firefighters union, nor does voting no on the levy tell the city that taxes are too high. The EMS levy can only be spent on funding, training and equipping of EMS crews and must be renewed every six years. It’s not an increase in taxes.
