Golf-theme food drive is today through June

Avista, Banner Bank and Appleway Automotive Group will present “Will Golf for Food,” to benefit Spokane Valley Partners.

Starting today, Banner Bank and Appleway Group and Avista will receive donations at its locations during regular business hours – the groups are raising food and awareness to help the Valley Food Bank through the summer months. The food drive will end June 30.

As the school year ends, many families must now prepare an extra 10 meals a week per child that would have received free or reduced-fee lunch or breakfast during the school year.

The food bank especially needs peanut butter, soups, tuna, apple sauce, macaroni and cheese and cold cereals.

You can drop off food donations or funds at those locations or directly to Spokane Valley Partners, 10814 E. Broadway Ave., between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The food drive will wrap up with Spokane Valley Partners’ annual golf tournament July 15 at Meadowwood Golf Course.
