Johnson becomes community colleges chancellor

Dr. Christine Johnson is the new Community Colleges of Spokane chancellor.
Christine Johnson has been named as the new chancellor of Community Colleges of Spokane. Johnson, currently the special assistant to the provost at the University of Colorado, Denver, will take the helm effective Aug. 1. “After conducting a national search followed by an inclusive and extremely thorough screening process, the trustees unanimously agreed Dr. Johnson demonstrates the values and breadth of experience we determined the new chancellor must have to positively move the district forward,” said Greg Bever, chair of the Community Colleges of Spokane Board of Trustees. “Dr. Johnson is a change master and problem-solver, who is unafraid to take on challenges and looks for opportunities to build consensus.” She replaces Gary Livingston, who announced his retirement last year. He has been the top leader of the CCS system – Spokane Community College, Spokane Falls Community College and the Institute for Extended Learning – since 2002.
