Break in storm systems should allow for mild day

Pleasant weather is expected during the day today with temperatures reaching 70. Consider it a lull between storm systems. Just as Tuesday’s wet weather has moved into Montana the next Pacific storm system has gathered off the Oregon Coast and will move onshore today. Rain is forecasted in the Cascades late this afternoon before the storm rushes across Eastern Washington and North Idaho tonight. Gusty winds, cool temperatures and showers are expected. The pattern of intermittent sun and rainy afternoons and evenings will continue through the week as high temperatures hit the mid-50s and lows touch the mid-30s on Thursday and Friday. More cool, rainy weather is expected for the weekend and into early next week, according to the National Weather Service. Gardeners and flower enthusiasts take note: There is a good chance of frost Friday morning through Sunday in the Deer Park area. The risk of freezing temperatures is less in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. Forecasters say Spokane lows could touch 34 degrees. In Coeur d’Alene the temperature could dip to 33. Thunderstorms could strike north of Spokane on Thursday night. The city could have thunderstorms over the weekend.
