Bulldogs topple Grizzlies

Kettle Falls’ Bulldogs lived to play another day.

Jeni Beardslee went 3 for 4, scored three runs and drove in four and Krislen McInelly allowed two hits and struck out nine in a 13-3 five-inning victory over the visiting Newport Grizzlies in a District 7 1A loser-out game on Wednesday.

Kayla Eslick added three hits, three RBIs, and scored four runs for KF, which plays Lakeside (Wash.) at 11 a.m. Saturday at West Valley.

District 7 2B: Emmy Bauwman drove in four runs with a pair of triples and Lind-Ritzville scored nine runs in its final two innings to rally from a seven-run deficit and beat visiting Northwest Christian 13-11 in a loser-out game. L-R advances to play Selkirk at noon Saturday at Franklin Park. … Baily Osterberg’s two-run triple keyed a five-run third inning and Republic topped visiting Reardan 8-3 in a loser-out game. Republic moves on to play Colfax at noon Saturday at Franklin Park.

Golf

Kira Powell garnered medalist honors and single-handedly won a team title for Odessa at the District 7 2B/1B girls meet at Deer Park GC. Powell shot an 83 and coupled with her subdistrict score of 83 left her 43 strokes in front of runner-up Kim Conway of Wilbur-Creston.

Conway earned 20 points for her first-place finish – two points better than second-place Wilbur-Creston.

District 7 1A girls: Alyssa Maine of Freeman shot a two-round total of 181 at Deer Park GC to finish eight shots in front of runner-up Arlee Coleman of Chewelah.

Maine’s victory earned the team title for Freeman. Chewelah and Lakeside (Wash.) tied for second.

District 7 1A boys: Freeman won the boys team title thanks to a 1-2-3 finish by Dylan Maine (148), Connor Claeys (152) and Tyler Barrong (156) at Deer Park GC.
