KEA plans bike event in Coeur d’Alene

To celebrate Bike to Work Week, the Kootenai Environmental Alliance will host a free bicycle event in Coeur d’Alene on Saturday called The Roots Pursuit.

Teams will bike to three downtown Coeur d’Alene locations and complete physical, mental or creative challenges. They will receive points based on their team performance, a KEA news release said. Teams will complete as many of the challenges as possible within two hours.

The event starts at 10 a.m. at the Shared Harvest Community Garden, at 10th Street and Foster Avenue. Check-in opens at 8:30 a.m. A post-event celebration, which will include prizes for the best performance, will be held at 1 p.m. at the garden.

The event host is KEA’s Community Roots Program, which provides food to the needy through donations by local gardeners. To register a team, call (208) 676-0421.
