In brief: Chamber offers business class

 

LIBERTY LAKE – The Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce will offer “NxLeveL,” a 10-week course designed to help new entrepreneurs establish their businesses and create an initial business plan, beginning Wednesday and running through July 28.

The course will be held at the Valley Chamber Business Center at Liberty Lake, 1421 N. Meadowwood Lane, on Wednesday evenings, from 6 to 9 p.m., and will cover business setup basics, marketing feasibility and target marketing, record keeping, budgeting, financial statements, and sources of financing.

Cost for the class is $395 per person and space is limited.

Missing Children’s Day events planned

VALLEY MALL – The Spokane Valley Mall will host activities honoring “National Missing Children’s Day” on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with “Take 25,” a U.S. Department of Justice child safety campaign promoted by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Take 25 is a national effort in which law enforcement, parents and educators are encouraged to take 25 minutes to talk to children about ways to be safer.

Tuesday’s activities include Operation Family I.D., a program that provides parents with a digital photograph and physical descriptors of each participating child.

Deputy Damon Simmons and Tiffany Osborne will discuss the Offender Watch website and explain to participants how it works and answer questions about the registered sex offender program.

All of the safety activities will take place on the second floor near the mall food court.

Mobile food bank at East Valley Baptist

TRENTWOOD – East Valley Baptist Church, 14516 E. Wellesley Ave and Second Harvest Inland Northwest Food Bank will be handing out food in the church parking lot today, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Free produce and perishable products for families in need of food assistance will be available and no appointment is necessary. Participants must be present to receive their food.

A mobile food bank will also be held at East Valley Baptist on June 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
