The Spokesman-Review

Flames from a burning car were doused Monday evening before they could spread to a nearby mechanic shop in downtown Spokane, authorities said.

Spokane firefighters were dispatched to Mechanics Pride at Third Avenue and Monroe Street after being advised of flames shooting out of a parked car, according to the Spokane Fire Department. The fire was spreading to a covered carport area and was beginning to burn toward the attached shop when they were extinguished by firefighters.

No injuries were reported in the 5:31 p.m. blaze. Cause of the fire is under investigation by the department’s special investigative unit.
