Weekend weather: rain will bookend one nice day

Today should be the wettest day of the soggy Memorial Day weekend in the Inland Northwest. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of showers today in Spokane, with a high near 60. The likelihood of rain will decrease to 30 percent before 11 tonight, and the overnight low is expected to be about 44. The chance of rain in Coeur d’Alene today is pegged at 60 percent and 40 percent tonight, with a high today of 58 and an overnight low of 45. Sunday will be the driest day of the extended weekend. The area forecast is for partly sunny skies and a high in the mid-60s. On Memorial Day, the rain may return. Forecasters are calling for a 40 percent chance of showers in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene Monday. Highs again will be in the mid-60s.
