Seventh-grader takes pellet gun to Salk

For the second time in less than a week, a Spokane middle school student has taken a gun to school. But the seventh grader at Salk today took a plastic pellet gun, not a real gun, school officials said. A 9mm was found in the backpack of Garry Middle School student on Friday. Terren Roloff, Spokane Public Schools spokeswoman, said today that “a rumor made it to a teacher that a seventh grade boy had a plastic pellet gun. The teacher asked the boy for it and he turned it over to her.” Police were not involved, Roloff said. The boy was released to his parents. The eighth grader from Garry is facing a charge of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. A letter will go home to Salk parents tonight regarding today’s incident, officials said.
