Suspicious device prompts prison evacuation

By The Spokesman-Review

A suspicious device found in a living area at the Airway Heights Corrections Center prompted an evacuation of inmates and staff on Monday.

The Spokane County Bomb Squad and HAZMAT team responded and removed a can with a paper wick, according to a press release. There was a small amount of mineral oil in the can.

The minimum-security facility houses 600 inmates.
