Weighing in

A weekly look at reader comments and reactions to the news

The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear, spearheaded by Comedy Central funnymen Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, sparked companion rallies in Spokane and dozens of other cities Saturday, where voters generally considered to be at the moderate to liberal end of the political spectrum gathered to demonstrate against what they consider the divisive politics of the generally conservative tea party movement. Not surprisingly, S-R readers revved up the debate online, where you can find complete coverage and the full reader debate.

ZagChuck: Insanity is a commitment to continue down a path of destruction. We’ve had Democrats in complete control of our state budget for the last 10 years, and in majority control for 38 of the last 40. Have they made the state budget better? … This is nothing more than another failed political stunt by the left, as they attempt to portray a grassroots movement.

Amybiviano: Tea Party comparisons aside, please remember that even those who yell the loudest still get one vote apiece, just like the rest of us. This rally was all about reasonable discussion and giving people a safe space to air their own political views without being shouted down.

Magnutt: I was happy to be able to attend a rally that reflected my sensibilities and to gather with like-minded people to show the politicians, and the world, that this is a country of reasonable Americans, people who won’t be represented by the conspiracy nuts, the pessimists and the wackos that typically dominate the media’s political coverage. It was a chance for the “Busy Majority” to be heard from. … If your ballot is still lying on the counter, let’s get that thing checked and mailed off.

Misjustice: Tax and spend versus borrow and spend? You be the judge.

Shazamm: If your ballot is still sitting on the counter at this late date, it probably means that you can’t find the stomach to vote for the Democrats. My wife and I sent ours in two weeks ago with all “R”s. They may not be the best and the brightest our nation has to offer, but the worst “R” is heck of a lot better than the best of “D”.

Schleufer: D for drive. R for reverse.

Thayne: I laugh at all of the republitard attack ads that say it was the Democrats that voted for the TARP and other bailouts. Actually it was Bush’s regime that created the scenarios requiring the bailout. Maybe if GM had stuck to building cars and not buying bad mortgages they wouldn’t have needed bailing out. If Bush and his buddies hadn’t looked the other way when the Wall Street robbers were screwing Americans the financial crisis wouldn’t have happened.

I`m amazed at the political illiterates who do not pay any attention to the wealthiest Americans receiving taxpayer money in the form of handouts.
“This year more than a third of the Power 30 will get their paychecks from Uncle Sam — not surprising, given that 2010 has been the year of reform. But the list also includes the chief executive of a grocery chain who has managed to gain attention — and a fair bit of criticism — for attacking health costs at his company, the leader of a firm given up for dead barely a year ago, and a widely watched bond-market guru who attracted billions of dollars just months after he was booted out by his previous employer

Warren Buffett continues to receive taxpayer stimulus money. Now if that doesn`t bother you nothing will.

If there any of you, whom are registered to vote and have not yet voted…

If you agree that this liberal left, big government tax and spend crowd needs to be stopped….

If you agree that our children and grandchildren…. and beyond…. should not be saddled with such selfish, immoral tax, borrow and spend,,,,

If you agree that our unemployment should be addressed as a priority, rather than the Obama-Scare, socialist health plan….

If you agree ALL government bailouts should be stopped!

If you agree that the money printing presses should be unplugged at the FED…. Thus, hopefully, keeping us from inflation/hyperinflation…

If you agree that Unions should no longer own the President of the United States as their Lap Puppy….

If you union members agree that your union leadership should NOT be spending your dues on far left liberal politics, which I know that you do,,,, based upon recent polls…

If you 90,000 at Boeing don’t like the fact that your health care premiums will be increasing significantly, due to the Obama Scare health plan…. Others take warning as well….

If you seniors believe that the Obama Health Scare plan, as implemented,,, should not be robbing Medicare of $500 Billion, to pay for the Obama Scare health plan…..

If you agree that we need a U.S. Senator who will stand against the above….

If you do not want Seattle to have the last word in this….

Then….. You MUST get to the polls tomorrow and ….

VOTE Rossi…. there is no greater, more important, ballot to be cast in our WA elections.

This particular race could be decided by one or two hundred voters.

    VOTE ROSSI

Call your family and friends whom are registered to vote and encourage them to vote for ROSSI as well.

Which political party allowed the following to occur?

“$8.7-Billion Missing In Iraq Funds” http://www.nationalpost.com/news/worl

“Corruption Suspected in Airlift of Billions in Cash From Kabul” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001

Which 6th District Senate candidate worked in both places during this time?

These experiences are how he defines his “service to our country”.

  • misjustice on November 01 at 1:10 p.m.

Well, james, there’s service, and then there’s “service”.

There’s uniformed USA soldiers, and then there’s private contractors/mercenaries which wear the uniforms of corporations. There’s USA soldiers which take an oath to defend and protect the Constitution, and then there’s private contractors/mercenaries which take an oath of fealty to a corporation.

When I think of “service to our country”, Blackwater does NOT come to mind; neither does that Bumgardner guy!
