Golden sunrise promises November warmth

A golden sunrise greeted early-morning commuters in the Spokane region today, and forecasters said the clear skies would bring another afternoon of November warmth. Highs today should reach the upper 50s in most locations around the Inland Northwest, although areas north of Spokane may start the day with a layer of fog. The high in Spokane on Wednesday was 57, which is 9 degrees above normal. National Weather Service forecasters said the clear weather should continue through Friday, although high clouds from the west should start appearing in the sky tonight. The high Friday may be even warmer at 59. Lows are predicted to stay in the upper 30s tonight to lower 40s on Friday night. The chance of rain arrives for the weekend with a 30 percent chance on Friday night increasing to a 50 percent chance on Saturday. The greatest chance of rain comes on Sunday when a cold front off the Pacific should move over the region, lowering snow levels in the mountains to as low as 3,000 feet by Sunday night. Over the weekend, highs Saturday will be near 58 in Spokane and then 52 on Sunday. Temperatures drop below normal into the middle 40s early next week, and snow levels continue to drop to about 2,300 feet by Tuesday night, which is low enough to reach some valley and plateau levels. Normal temperatures today in Spokane are 48 for a high and 32 for a low. At 7 a.m., it was 37 at Spokane International Airport, Felts Field and Coeur d’Alene. Elsewhere, it was 30 in Deer Park and 32 in Pullman.
