In brief: Open house marks florist’s 58th year

SPOKANE VALLEY – Appleway Florist and Greenhouse will celebrate its 58th anniversary with an open house today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 11006 E. Sprague Ave.

There will be hot wassail, dessert, coffee and door prizes. There will be several anniversary specials and holiday gift selections. The family owned business was founded in 1952 by Bob and Virginia Lewis.

Wine, beer festival will be next Saturday

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Spokane Cork and Keg Festival, presented by the Washington Restaurant Association-Spokane Chapter, will feature more than 100 wines and 30 handcrafted beers, mostly from the Northwest next Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Mirabeau Park Hotel, Sullivan Road at I-90.
