Veterans Day ceremonies and events Thursday in the Inland Northwest include:

Spokane

Veterans Day ceremony – This annual event honors veterans of all eras. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and includes speakers, the presentation of a Purple Heart medal, three Bronze Star medal presentations, a wreath-laying by the Gold Star Mothers and Parents and music performed by the Air National Guard Band of the Northwest. The event is free. Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, 720 W. Mallon Ave. Call (509) 434-7217 for information.

Veterans Day observance – Hosted by Spokane Veterans for Peace. Participants will gather at the Vietnam Veterans Statue above the Lilac Bowl in Riverfront Park. The brief ceremony will include a procession to another part of the park and a time for comments from veterans and supporters of peace, locally and globally. The free event begins at noon. A Salute to America’s Veterans – Free patriotic concert featuring John Oss, organ; Paul Manly, trumpet; and Monica Manly, violin. A reception will follow the 3 p.m. concert. Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way. Call (509) 838-8900 for information.

Veterans Honoring Veterans – Organized by Catholic Military Veterans at St. Thomas Cemetery on Sherman Avenue in Coeur d’Alene., 11 a.m. Free. Call (208) 762-3497 for information.

“El Mundo de Jazz” – Free concert featuring the NIC Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Co. at North Idaho College, Boswell Hall, Schuler Performing Art Center, 1000 W. Garden Ave., Coeur d’Alene, 7:30 p.m.

City of Hayden tribute – 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Plaza in front of Hayden City Hall, 8930 N. Government Way.

Wreath-laying ceremony – Hosted by American Legion 14 and VFW 889. 11 a.m. at the bell in the Third Street parking lot in downtown Coeur d’Alene.

Restaurant thank-you dinners

Applebee’s – Locations nationwide offering special Veterans Day menu to veterans and active-duty military with proof of service, which can include U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.

Coeur d’Alene Casino – Free meal and entertainment for veterans and their families. At the casino off of U.S. Highway 95 near Worley, 7 p.m.

Next week

Timber Creek Grill Buffet – All veterans and active-duty military eat free on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at 9211 E. Montgomery Ave. in Spokane Valley. Donations will be collected for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Gathering of Bands: A Veterans’ Salute – Free concert featuring the NIC Wind Symphony, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in North Idaho College’s Boswell Hall, Schuler Performing Art Center, 1000 W. Garden Ave. in Coeur d’Alene.
