WAC roundup: Kaepernick, Taua help Nevada nip Fresno St.

Colin Kaepernick set a school record with two more rushing touchdowns, and Vai Taua’s third score of the night gave the 21st-ranked Nevada Wolf Pack a 35-34 win over the Fresno State Bulldogs on Saturday night in Fresno, Calif.

Kaepernick ran for 152 yards and scored the 55th touchdown of his career for the Wolf Pack record.

Taua’s 24-yard scamper up the middle with 4:51 remaining gave the Wolf Pack their first lead since midway through the third quarter.

Robbie Rouse rushed for 217 yards and scored three touchdowns for Fresno State in a game with six lead changes.

Utah State 38, San Jose State 34: Derrvin Speight rushed for a career-high 125 yards and scored three TDs, the last on a 15-yard run with 34 seconds left, to lift the Aggies over the Spartans in San Jose, Calif.

Quarterback Diondre Borel passed for 259 yards and a TD, but it was the Aggies’ running game that made all the difference. Utah State ran the ball 62 times for 262 yards and overcame three turnovers to snap an eight-game losing streak in San Jose.

Louisiana Tech 41, New Mexico State 20: Ross Jenkins passed for one TD and rushed for another as the Bulldogs cruised past the Aggies in Las Cruces, N.M.

Jenkins finished with 184 passing yards, completing 19 of 31 attempts.

Lennon Creer rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs, while Phillip Livas added 84 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
