Vai Tafuna’s 2-yard touchdown run with 38 seconds remaining lifted the Weber State Wildcats to a 27-26 victory over the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Saturday in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Backup quarterback Mike Hoke was 11 of 15 for 168 yards and a touchdown to help the Wildcats rally from a 26-13 deficit in the fourth quarter. Hoke replaced starter Cameron Higgins, who set a Big Sky record with his 97th career TD pass on the first play from scrimmage but left in the third quarter with an injury.

Hoke threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to Collins in the fourth quarter. Collins, who had eight receptions for 191 yards, also caught Higgins’ record-breaking TD toss, a 64-yarder.

Higgins had been tied with Matt Nicholls of Eastern Washington and Dave Dickenson of Montana.
