Riverside man killed by brother

Shooting described as self-defense

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is now calling a fatal shooting Saturday night an apparent act of self defense. A 41-year-old Riverside man was shot to death just before 8:30 p.m. in the 13000 block of East Bridges Road, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release. When deputies arrived they questioned the man’s girlfriend, his brother and his brother’s wife. His brother, who has not been identified, told deputies that he was outside in the dark when he was attacked by an unknown person. He ran into the home, got a gun and fired at the intruder not knowing it was his brother, the press release said. No arrests were made. Major Crimes detectives are investigating the incident. An autopsy is expected to be completed Monday. The victim’s identity will not be released until then.
