Time for political teamwork
After listening to President Barack Obama, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid following this month’s midterm elections, I offer the following thoughts:
1. I believe the above mentioned persons are true Americans.
2. I believe the foul language will stop because greed and jealousy and disrespect produce negative results.
3. I believe the above Americans will understand that by providing all Americans with universal access to health and education, and building an America healthy in body and mind, we can lead in all spheres of our lives here at home and abroad.
We have to work together. We can stop the hatred in our country and abroad, we can combat terrorism, and instead of finding ourselves involved in illogical and devastating preemptive wars, we can redirect our lives and resources toward improving our well-being. We have to use our brains and our compassion to solve our problems. It is that simple. Our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren deserve no less from us.
Finally, Mr. Barack Obama, as our president, duly elected by the people of the United States of America, deserves our respect and appreciation, if not our admiration, regardless of whether he is black, white or polka-dot.
