Vandals prevail in men’s hoops

MOSCOW, Idaho – Five players scored in double figures and Idaho won its season opener, defeating Eastern Oregon 86-74 Saturday night in men’s basketball at Memorial Gym.

Shawn Henderson and Djim Bandoumel shared team-high honors with 14 points for the Vandals, who led 38-36 at halftime.

Luiz Toledo scored 13 points and Deremy Geiger scored 11 for the Vandals. Brandon Wiley had 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Vandals made 7 of 14 3-point attempts with Jeff Ledbetter connecting on 3 out of 5 for his nine points.

Jason Mumm scored 21 points to lead Eastern Oregon, which lost for the first time in five games.
