Police arrest stabbing suspect

Spokane police early Monday arrested a 24-year-old man accused of stabbing two people Saturday near 10th Avenue and Maple Street.

Charles Price Dimit was arrested at a home on South Wall Street where he was hiding from police, officers said.

Dimit initially refused to surrender to officers but came out of the residence after police were preparing to send a canine team in to get him.

Dimit is accused of attacking his girlfriend, Ashley Patten, with a knife and stealing her purse at their home at 1012 S. Maple St., then stabbing Gabriel Dillon, 32, in the stomach. Only Dillon required hospitalization.

Dimit has previous convictions for first-degree animal cruelty, third-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment.

He remained in jail Tuesday on first-degree assault and first-degree robbery charges.
