One dead, one injured in Medical Lake rollover

KHQ

One man is dead and his wife is in serious condition after they rolled their SUV off a dirt road in Medical Lake Thursday night, according to a KHQ report.

The woman reportedly is the daughter Medical Lake Mayor John Higgins, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dave Reagan.

Jerod Hoeche, 30, and Amanda Hoeche, 28, were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled about 300 feet off West Leyn Road about 8:30 p.m., Reagan said. Jerod Hoeche reportedly was driving too fast on the gravel road and lost control, Reagan said. Alcohol was a factor in the crash, he added.

Amanda Hoeche was pinned beneath a rear tire of the vehicle. First responders had to lift the SUV to get her out.

Both were transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center. Amanda Hoeche was reported in satisfactory condition there today.

Not wearing seatbelts and drinking? These two were courting tragedy. While I feel for the families I hope all people, especialy the ones with teenagers getting ready to start driving pay attention here and start driving responsibility and don’t drink and drive or drive without your seat belt.

What a sad, avoidable, loss of life.

Kind regards to the family and friends of this young couple.

West “LEHN” Rd. …a common short cut from a local “watering hole”…Avoidable for sure.

My sympathy’s to the survivor and the families and friends

Ur right, Natural. Locals use it to avoid the local M.A.D.D. fueled DUI gestapo. You have to love a town that boasts of its annual DUI arrests on large signs at every entrance to town. All that being said, Medical Lake is small enough to walk anywhere in 15 minutes, so why ever risk drinking and driving?

Why must folks drink and drive? Why do they not understand this is avoidable by not doing it. Now we have a loss of life ,a woman who is injured and has to grieve over loss of her husband.

Laws need to be stricter for drinking and driving.

Spoketucky is just south and a few freeway exits north of NO-BS.

what kind of suv was it?

  • cwiseazcougfan on November 21 at 6:33 a.m.

Bucky 208., does it really matter what kind of SUV it was? It seems like a completely moot point - you could be driving the world’s safest car and still flip it if you’re driving too fast, while drunk, on a gravel road. That has nothing to do with anything.

Who are you people? I live in Medical Lake and I’ve never heard of people using that road to avoid police. Shortcut to where? What local watering hole are we talking about the pines? Wrong direction! the wheel? I think not. Nice try.

Let’s stop smearing, and get a life.

All of us in ML, our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the Hoeche (pronounced Hay-Key) family, and Jerod’s widow Amanda. Your loss is unimaginable.
