Can’t we just pass on Rush?

Rush Limbaugh is a truly despicable person and a racist. Just this month, in discussing the competition for the Democratic minority whip position in the next Congress, between Steny Hoyer (white) and James Clyburn (black), he suggested that Clyburn could retain his perks by “driving Miss Nancy.” It was an unmistakable reference to the great movie “Driving Miss Daisy,” in which Morgan Freeman played a chauffeur for an aristocratic Southern woman.

Most radio personalities couldn’t get away with that kind of behavior. Don Imus was fired for a comment about the Rutgers University women’s basketball team. Listeners and sponsors were so outraged that CBS was forced to dump him.

Where’s the outrage on the right over Limbaugh? Is he so big that no one dares challenge him? Is that behavior acceptable in conservative circles?

In typical fashion, Limbaugh will suggest it was just a joke or that he’s just an entertainer. But, he is using public airwaves as the vehicle for his vile behavior. There are several words that cannot be spoken on the public air because they are socially unacceptable. There clearly are ideas that fall into that same category. Limbaugh has crossed the line once too often.
