Around the country: Dobbs breaks touchdown record

Ricky Dobbs ran for three touchdowns, setting an NCAA record in the process, and passed for another to lead the Navy Midshipmen (7-4) to a 35-19 win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves (4-7) on Saturday in Annapolis, Md.

The senior quarterback celebrated Senior Day with touchdown runs of 1, 1 and 3 yards that gave him 40 over the last two seasons, a record for running TDs by a quarterback in successive seasons. He has 48 rushing touchdowns in his career, fifth all-time for quarterbacks. He gained 154 yards on 31 carries against the Red Wolves.

West Virginia 17, Louisville 10: Noel Devine ran for 58 yards and a TD and the Mountaineers (7-3, 3-2 Big East) kept their hopes for a Big East title alive with a rugged win over the Cardinals (5-6, 2-4) in Louisville, Ky.

Boston College 17, Virginia 13: Montel Harris carried 24 times for 114 yards, including a go-ahead 4-yard TD run late in the third quarter, to lift the Eagles (6-5, 4-4 ACC) to bowl eligibility for a 12th straight season with a win over the Cavaliers (4-7, 1-6) in Boston.

Penn State 41, Indiana 24: Matt McGloin threw for 315 yards and two scores, James Van Fleet returned a blocked punt for a TD and the Nittany Lions (7-4, 4-3 Big Ten) breezed to a victory over the Hoosiers (4-7, 0-7) in Landover, Md.

North Carolina State 29, North Carolina 25: Owen Spencer caught a tipped ball in the end zone for a TD on fourth down and T.J. Graham returned a punt 87 yards for another score to help the Wolfpack (8-3, 5-2 ACC) rally past the Tar Heels (6-5, 3-4) in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Colorado 44, Kansas State 36: Rodney Stewart ran for a TD and gained a career-high 195 yards on 34 carries, caught two passes for 49 yards and completed a 23-yard halfback pass for a TD in leading the Buffaloes (5-6, 2-5 Big 12) past the Wildcats (6-5, 3-5) in Boulder, Colo.

Tulsa 31, Texas-El Paso 28: G.J. Kinne threw for 325 yards and two TDs to lead the Golden Hurricane (8-3, 5-2 Conference USA) past the Miners (6-6, 3-5) in Tulsa, Okla., and keep their West Division title hopes alive.

Wyoming 44, Colorado State 0: Alvester Alexander rushed for 147 yards and a school-record five TDs to power the Cowboys (3-9, 1-7 Mountain West) to a win over the Rams (3-9, 2-6) in Laramie, Wyo.

Georgia Tech 30, Duke 20: Mario Butler returned an interception 85 yards for a TD, Tevin Washington threw a 79-yard TD pass to Stephen Hill and the Yellow Jackets (6-5, 4-4 ACC) became bowl eligible for a 14th straight season with a win over the Blue Devils (3-8, 1-6) in Atlanta.

Clemson 30, Wake Forest 10: Kyle Parker threw two TD passes, Jamie Harper rushed for 142 yards – including a 63-yard TD romp – and the Tigers (6-5, 4-4 ACC) topped the Demon Deacons (2-9, 1-7) in Winston-Salem, N.C.

BYU 40, New Mexico 7: Jake Heaps threw two TD passes to fellow freshman Cody Hoffman and ran for another score as the Cougars (6-5, 5-2 Mountain West) earned bowl eligibility with a win over the Lobos (1-10, 1-6) in Provo, Utah.
